  • Lying along the west coast of southern Africa, just north of Namibia, Angola is renowned for its rich natural resources, colonial architecture, and the winding, serpentine mountain pass of Serra da Leba. Angola has enjoyed a peaceful culture for over 20 years, and its post-civil war tourism potential is slowly emerging. Visitors who have the opportunity to explore this spectacular country will be rewarded with unspoiled landscapes and magnificent natural features, including the Kalandula Waterfalls, the bizarre rock formations at Pungo Andongo, and the stunning orange sands of the northern Namib Desert. While it may not offer big game, Angola presents beautiful nature and scenery. The prosperous, oil-rich capital of Luanda boasts modern skyscrapers, a palm-lined promenade, and impressive government buildings. DAY 2 - LUANDA TO KAHOMBO

    May 23

After an early breakfast, we set off eastward towards Malange Province. As we make our way to our destination, we will drive through beautiful areas and make short opportunistic photo stops along the way. About halfway through the journey, we will be driving through semi-rainforests. Lunch will be picnic-style during our travels. Our final destination is our lodge/guest farm, which is situated right next to a river that boasts a variety of bird species, making it an excellent location for bird photography. There are several walking routes for those who would like to stretch their legs and enjoy a stroll. We will finish the day at a picturesque spot on the farm for a landscape sunset shoot. Dinner will be prepared at the lodge restaurant. Overnight accommodation: (B,L,D)

    DAY 3 - KAHOMBO

    May 24

Today, we will have an early start and a short drive to the famous Calandula Waterfalls. This majestic waterfall is the second largest in Southern Africa by volume, after Victoria Falls, according to studies. When we reach the falls, we can photograph from different angles, with your photo guide assisting you.

The first option is to take photos from on top of the plateau, where you will be at eye level with the falls. Here, you will also find a restaurant with a view overlooking the falls. The second option is to hike a short 15 minutes to the eastern brink of the falls, where you can view the semi-formed horseshoe shape of the falls. The third option, which offers the most stunning perspective, is to hike down to the base of the falls, which takes about 20 minutes at a relaxed pace. This viewpoint provides a 270-degree view of the falls, creating a magical experience just by being there. After our shoot, we will take a lunch break at the restaurant overlooking the falls. Following lunch, we’ll begin our journey back to the lodge. Along the way, we will stop at some villages to capture a few shots of everyday life in the area. Again, your guides will assist with ideas and shooting options. Depending on accessibility due to rain and road maintenance, we may also visit Musselenje Falls before returning to the lodge. This smaller waterfall, located about 30 km away from the main falls, offers excellent opportunities for long exposure captures as water flows over the rocks. We will arrive at the lodge late after another magical day, followed by dinner at the lodge. Overnight accommodation: (B,L,D)
