WHAT’S THIS ADVENTURE ABOUT?
How about exploring, shooting and enjoying photo workshops in the stunning environments of Queensland’s Tropical North? We will target, beautiful rainforests with stunning waterfalls, plus Undara Lava Tubes, creative nature and special shoots.
We also include two unique shoots with the Kuku Yalanji people near Mossman Gorge. What a fantastic first people experience! Your professional photo guide will help you to shoot unique imagery of these people and culture. Our workshops will be aimed at helping you to take better images and then, what you can do with those images. Most importantly, we put your photography first!
We start and finish in Cairns, this offering a fantastic diversity of experiences and the best of tropical north Queensland.
YOUR SAFETY & HEALTH
This has always been of great importance to us. From great tips in our final interaries to quality accommodation and your professional guide managing day to day variations in locations and habitats. Your professional guide is happy to help you at any time and offer the best possible protection for your safety and health. We highly recommend that you see your GP before departure for medical advice about the region.
We include 6 nights accommodation at quality 3 Star lodges – world class photo tuition, plus all meals as per itinerary. We do not include transport, but can help with 4WD pooling and you have the option to use your own vehicle. Julia will put you in contact with other group members. We have used the vehicle pooling system many times as it offers more flexibility and cost savings.
We limit the group size to 6/7 photographers per tutor. This will offer you personalised assistance in the field! You just need to get yourself to and from Cairns. Julia is happy to help you with the best options.
Nothing delights the lens like striking contrasts of landscapes and nature, and Tropical North Queensland serves these up in abundance — vibrant and wild landscapes, captivating wildlife and fantastic creative shoots.

Itinerary to photo adventure…
DAY 1 – CAIRNS TO UNDARA
We depart early (7am) and head into lush rainforest targeting quality time at Nandroya Falls, one of Darran’s personal favourites. This is Australia’s wettest region, so be prepared for unique waterfalls and of course the creative opportunities that scenes like this offer. Darran has explored this region several times before including shoots for Queensland national park service and on a government commissioned shoot. Your guides will work hard to optimise the amazing adventures for you – from landscapes to nature and creative. We finish our long day arriving late into Undara.

DAYs 3&4 – UNDARA TO ATHERTON TABLELANDS
After a morning shoot and hearty breakfast, we drive north-east to the Atherton Tablelands region, stopping at a few points on our way to our accommodation. The habitats change from grasslands to open forest to farm land and pockets of rainforest. We overnight at a unique small lodge that is home to rare wildlife species and is very good for birds and rainforest species. We include workshops and use the local owners great information on photo locations. Some top subjects are just metres from your room!
