WHAT’S THIS ADVENTURE ABOUT?
We are targeting one of Australia’s icon locations – Cape York Peninsula, Queensland. This is a 4WD expedition in exclusive vehicles with just 4 adventurers per vehicle, plus your personal photo guide and a local expert driver/guide. We are only taking 2 vehicles, so book early!
Cape York is one of those special locations that you need to tick off your bucket list. This is a special adventure as we include ‘normal’ lodge/hotel wilderness type accommodation for your comfort, but mix in rugged waterfalls and amazing walks on wild beaches and opportunistic encounters of nature.
Your experienced driver/guide, plus your WPA personal photo guide will maximise information of this historic region, plus give you the best photographic assistance. From savannah country to rainforest, beaches to the very tip of the Cape itself. To maximise your adventure, you then fly home, viewing the Cape from the air – how cool!

Your professional guide is happy to help you at any time and offer the best possible protection for your safety and health. We highly recommend that you see your GP before departure for medical advice about the region.
We include 8 nights accommodation at quality lodges – world class photo tuition, plus all meals as per itinerary. We limit the group size to 8 adventurers, 4 per 4WD vehicle. This will offer you personalised assistance in the field! You just need to get yourself to and from Cairns. Julia is happy to help you with the best options.

ITINERARY – to adventure …
DAY 1 – CAIRNS TO DAINTREE
Leaving Cairns early, we head north along Queensland’s Great Ocean Road towards Daintree, where we will join the Daintree River Cruise for an hour of exploring the wilderness where crocodiles are often found.
We then cross the Daintree River by cable ferry and make our way toward to Cape Tribulation giving you an opportunity to explore coastal headlands and long sandy beaches stopping to enjoy lunch before we journey through the World Heritage Rainforest.

DAY 2 – DAINTREE TO COOKTOWN
After a leisurely breakfast we begin our journey towards Cooktown. Engaging 4WD, we travel along the Bloomfield Track (weather permitting) enjoying many scenic spots including Bloomfield Falls and Cedar Bay National park.
We stop at the World-Famous Lions Den Pub – another classic Aussie Icon. We visit The Mysterious Black Mountain before arriving in the Historic township of Cooktown. Time to explore town and the harbour.

DAY 3 – COOKTOWN TO COEN / MUSGRAVE
We start our day with a visit to Grassy Hill Lookout, The James Cook Museum, Botanical Gardens & Powerhouse Museum – this is truly an amazing place. From Cooktown we head west to Battle Camp and onwards into Lakefield National Park.
After visiting “Old Laura” homestead we travel through many fascinating river valleys and numerous giant termite mounds before arriving at our overnight accommodation at Coen or Musgrave.

DAY 4 – COEN / MUSGRAVE TO LOCKHART
Today we continue our adventure to one of Australia’s most remote area’s we head east exploring the Sir William Thompson Range and then crossing the Pascoe River, we head to Iron Range National Park. As we enter the National Park, we see the spectacular Mount Tozer at the peak of the table range, before descending down to Lockhart River a unique aboriginal community situated on the ocean at Lloyd Bay.
Heading onwards further north – exploring the many wonders of the Iron Range National Park whilst enjoying the dense tropical rainforest being the largest remaining area of lowland rainforest in Australia. We arrive at Lockhart River for our overnight stay.
