This is an Ultimate South America Photo Adventure!
This is our third time to the wild’s of Brazil and our first time to this new location – be one of the first! We are targeting stunning waterfalls, rainforest and diverse nature from colourful frogs to monkeys and hummingbirds. Your professional photo guide will help any experience level to shoot amazing images! This is a very diverse holiday with experiences from rainforest to the coast of the Atlantic.
A dense tropical forest runs from northeast Brazil to northern Argentina along the coastal mountains of Serra do Mar parallel to the Atlantic, being home to thousands of species of vascular plants, insects and wildlife. It is known as the Atlantic Rainforest, and after the Amazon is considered the second richest biome of South America. From the dense mountain forest of the interior up to the coastal mangroves that grow by the ocean, the Atlantic Rainforest is home for more than 14 species of primates and 970 bird species, together with dozens of tree frogs and colorful tropical butterflies.
On this unique tour, we offer the possibility of visiting three different habitats of the Atlantic rainforest along a biological corridor that links the mountain forest of PETAR (Alto Ribeira State Park), the lowland forest and the mangrove areas by the sea and a paradisiac beach. All the lodges will offer hummingbird and bird feeders in order to make the work much easier for photographers and birders. Waterfalls, caves and local fishermen at work in their colourful boats will be other attractions of this Brazilian holiday.
Tour 1 explores the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil with over 16 hummingbird species, plus waterfalls and other great nature subjects. Tour 2 is different in that it is drier country and new species with Jaguar being a major target, plus birds and more nature.

ITINERARY TO ADVENTURE…
DAY 1: SAO PAULO – TAPIRAÍ
Departure from Sao Paulo airport and after 2½ hour drive arrive to a private property in the district of Tapiraí, where a restoration project of the Atlantic Rainforest has been taking place by the owners. In the heart of the preserve, a comfortable lodge called Trilha dos Tucanos (Toucans’ trail in Portuguese) provides accommodation, and a wide net of trails allowing for exploration of this fascinating area that includes primary and secondary forest, palm heart groves and streams flanked with giant ferns. The lodge has several feeders that attract dozens of tropical bird species, including tanagers, toucans, woodpeckers and hummingbirds. Among them we will see Maroon-bellied parakeet, plain parakeet, Saffron toucanet, Green-billed toucan, Yellow-fronted woodpecker, and hummingbirds such as the Scale-throated hermit, the Swallow-tailed hummingbird, the Brazilian ruby, the Violet-capped woodnymph, the Glittering-bellied emerald and more!

DAY 3: TAPIRAÍ – ALTO RIBEIRA STATE PARK
Drive to a very special area located in the green mountains in heart of a biological corridor that protects large stands of primary rainforest, with numerous waterfalls and some of the largest caves in Brazil. But the main reason to come to this park are the rainforest raptors, in special the fabulous Ornate hawk-eagle. The park monitors have been following the evolution of 3 pairs of eagles, as well as of other raptors (Gray-bellied hawk and Black hawk-eagle). We will shoot from a hide located at 25 m from the nest of the Ornate hawk-eagle. We will also shoot other colourful birds such as Magpie tanagers, Bare-throated bellbirds and Channel-billed toucan.
