RUSSIA – the adventure…
We are targeting the wild’s of Russia including Arctic deer herders, ancient villages, plus Moscow and many other unique locations. Few photographers have been to several locations we will visit.
We start our adventures at Murmansk, located 250km north of the Arctic Circle, Murmansk is the world’s largest Arctic city. It is then onto explore the Saami People, deer herders and other indigenous Artic people.
Imagine exploring St Petersburg, Moscow, Volgograd, formerly known as Stalingrad, the UNESCO world heritage city of Derbent, ancient forts, villages, cities and so much more.
We offer both a local expert guide and of course your world class photography guide. All of this with a small group size, all accommodation, meals as per itinerary, exclusive transport, overnight train adventures and more. We are offering a true Wild Russia experience!

ITINERARY – to adventure…
DAY 1: Murmansk to Saami People
We are greeted at Murmansk, located 250km north of the Arctic Circle, Murmansk is the world’s largest Arctic city. Note that services start from this pickup. (Julia can book pre tour accommodation and flights. These are not included in the tour price.) We drive 2.5 hours to the village of Lovozero, centre of Kola’s indigenous Saami people. Tea, snacks, then we transfer – in sledges – to our guest house in the forest tundra. How cool is that? Yes, we are in the wild’s of Russia! Overnight in guest house. (L,D)
DAY 2: With the Reindeer Herders
We enjoy a short sledge trip to the beautiful Seydozero Lake, sacred lake of the Saami people. We visit sacred seyda sites nearby. Then a further 45 minutes to a reindeer herders’ brigade. Visit the herd, observe the daily life of the herders. In the evening we return to the guest house. (B,L,D)
DAY 3: Northern Korla Peninsula
In the morning we have a sledge excursion to various beautiful sites in the mountains and forest tundra, before returning to the guest house for lunch. After lunch we return to Lovozero to visit the local museum and Saami National Cultural Centre. After dinner we have a 1-hour transfer to the unique Soviet town of Olenegorsk (Reindeer Hills) from where we catch an overnight train south to Medvezhegorsk (Bear Hills) in the Republic of Karelia. Overnight onboard the train in 4-berth compartments. (B,L,D)
DAY 4: In Karelia
We arrive in Medvezhegorsk late in the morning. We immediately take a 1-hour drive to the small log cabin village of Pyalma, huddled on the shores of Onega, Europe’s second largest lake. We explore locally, offering quality time to shoot and discover the location. Your guides will help to maximise your adventures. Hotel accommodation. (B,L,D)
DAY 5: To the Czarist Capital
We transfer north back to Medvezhegorsk after breakfast. Day train trip through taiga forests to St Petersburg, arriving around in the evening. We transfer to our accommodation. A different travel day with shoots from your mobile transport. Your photo guide will offer you the best techniques. The results are surprising. Hotel accommodation – (B)
