On the Road – Atacama Desert

On the Road

Atacama Desert

Bolivia & Chile

What a unique place on earth! Very dry, yet with pockets of incredible life. The altiplano is one of the very best locations that we have visited over the years. Altitude starts at around 2,500m and the highest we managed was 5,600m. Because of its volcanic history, the region has a weird off world look to the landscapes. The local people are descendants of the Incas and live a tough life. Travel is limited, but you would not ask for more as you drive on open highways where only our experienced driver knew where he was going. Massive salt pans, rugged cliffs, active volcanoes – AMAZING!

Enjoy the images and if you are keen to go, let us know as you might instigate a new WPA adventure…
